Ethics & Conflict Avoidance

How we handle competing clients.

Florida is a small market, and the firms that win in it represent companies that sometimes compete. The question is not whether that happens. It is whether your firm tells you, and whether it manages it with something real. We do both.

Our Standard

Said up front. Managed with real walls.

CSG represents one client per market category per lobbyist as its advocate of record, and we tell you who your advocate is by name. Like every major government-relations firm, our roster may include companies that compete with you; unlike most, we say so up front and we manage it with real walls. Your strategy, your documents, and your confidential information are never shared, period. What is shared is what makes our model stronger for every client: the market intelligence of a firm that sees more of the Florida SLED market than any single-client shop, and the ability to bring clients together when their offerings are stronger combined. Non-advocacy services, our market intelligence, budget tracking, and solicitation monitoring, are open to any client and never create a conflict.

What Counts

What is, and isn't, a conflict.

A conflict, for us, is one specific thing: asking the same lobbyist to advocate for two competitors in the same market, or to take opposite sides of the same live matter. Everything else is not. Our services fall into three tiers, and the rule is different at each.

Tier 1 · Advocacy

Your lobbyist of record. Exclusive.

Lobbying, meetings with officials, and influence over appropriations and procurement. We represent one client per market category per lobbyist of record, named in your engagement letter. That exclusivity is the scarce, premium part of what you are buying, and it is yours.

Tier 2 · Consulting

Advisory work. Open, with disclosure.

Capture strategy, market-entry assessments, teaming guidance, and intelligence onboarding. We can advise more than one company in a category, disclosed in every engagement letter. Your confidential strategy never crosses accounts, and we decline advisory work directly adverse to an advocacy client on a live matter.

Tier 3 · Intelligence

Our intelligence products. Fully open.

Budget intelligence, solicitation and procurement tracking, dashboards, and market reports. Built from public records, the same product for every subscriber, with no advocacy attached. Available to anyone in any category, and never a conflict.

How We Manage It

Real walls, not just promises.

Exclusivity sits at the lobbyist level, not the firm level, which is how every serious government-relations shop operates. What sets ours apart is that the separation is built into how we work, not just written into a policy.

01

A named advocate

One lobbyist of record per client, named in your engagement letter. You always know who is carrying your file, and that they are not carrying a direct competitor's in the same market.

02

Walls that are built in

Your strategy, documents, and private feeds live in walled workspaces, segregated by design and not just by policy. The only thing shared across clients is public-record market intelligence that belongs to no one.

03

The same-matter rule

If two clients become directly adverse on one live matter, the same solicitation or opposite sides of the same bill, we do not play both sides. The first client retained keeps its advocate; we step aside for the other on that single matter, and nothing crosses.

04

Checked every time

Every new engagement runs through a conflict check against our market database before we sign, and we re-attest our conflicts internally every year. If there is an issue, you hear it from us first.

Why It Works In Your Favor

The portfolio is the product.

The industry standard, done honestly.

Every major government-relations firm represents companies that compete with one another. The professional standard has never been industry overlap; it is direct adversity on the same matter. The difference with CSG is that we say so up front and back it with walls you can see, instead of hoping you never ask.

More clients make us sharper for each one.

Because we see more of the Florida SLED market than any single-client shop, every client gets better public-record intelligence, and when two clients are stronger together than apart, we can bring them to the table. Your confidential information is never part of that, period.

It is already how we work.

This is not theory. Where two competitors in the same category both want CSG, we assign each a different lobbyist of record, wall the engagements, and secure both clients' consent, rather than turning the second one away. The model is in live use today.

Not sure if we can represent you?

Tell us who you are and what you are pursuing. We will run a conflict check before any conversation goes further and tell you exactly where we stand, by name and in writing.
